HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) reported record-breaking earnings in the third quarter, with operating profit exceeding ₩1 trillion for the first time.
According to its regulatory filing on Sunday, the company posted consolidated sales of ₩7.58 trillion and an operating profit of ₩1.05 trillion, marking year-on-year increases of 21.4% and 164.5%, respectively.
Despite fewer working days due to seasonal factors, the company attributed the strong performance to improved productivity in its commercial ship segment, a higher proportion of high-value vessels in total deliveries, and profit growth in its engine and machinery business.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries led the group’s performance with sales of ₩4.42 trillion and operating profit of ₩557.3 billion.
HD Hyundai Samho posted ₩1.97 trillion in sales and ₩306.4 billion in operating profit, while HD Hyundai Mipo recorded ₩1.30 trillion in sales and ₩200.8 billion in profit — a year-on-year increase of 470.5%.
Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Marine Engine achieved ₩1.09 trillion in revenue and ₩20.3 billion in profit, up 35% and 130.7% year-on-year, supported by rising demand for premium dual-fuel engines and component sales.
The shipbuilding division recorded revenue of ₩6.20 trillion and operating profit of ₩865.8 billion, up 16.5% and 128.9% year-on-year, reflecting production efficiency gains and price hikes.
The engine and machinery segment saw sales climb 31% to ₩823.6 billion, with operating profit jumping 137.5% to ₩243.2 billion amid tightening global emission regulations and higher delivery volumes.
The offshore plant segment reported ₩280.4 billion in revenue but swung to a loss due to one-off expenses.
HD Energy Solutions posted ₩121 billion in sales and ₩14.7 billion in operating profit. Despite weaker domestic solar module sales caused by seasonal factors, exports to the U.S. and the launch of new N-Type modules supported stable profitability.
